Worship Services ...

Sunday morning worship at Community Church comes in two basic formats. For most

of the year, a simple order of service is followed, with an emphasis on music that blends

treasured hymns of the church with cutting edge contemporary material. There is a

generous amount of time taken to listen to and respond to prayer requests. The Lessons

are practical, relevant, and to the point. We try to get out on time and beat others to the

restaurant of our choice but will take time to linger and play catch up with dear friends we

may not have seen in the past week.

Worship is more structured during Advent and Lent. We follow the Reformed order of worship, with its rich tones and focused rhythm. We take time for deeper reflection and renewal, with greater participation from members of the congregation. Amidst the surroundings of a sanctuary decorated for the Seasons, these special days are all the more meaningful. Special music enhances the richness of the experience.

Music ...

We enjoy a variety of styles in our worship services at CUCC, from the cherished traditional favorites to the contemporary praise songs that are rising in popularity today. We are fortunate to have a variety of backgrounds among our members and friends, and we strive to learn and grow musically together.

We encourage our members to express their faith through music. Our choir sings for Sunday morning services and for many of our special services throughout the year. We support our youth musicians by providing opportunities for them to share their developing talents in our worship services. To complement the talents of our church family, we frequently host musicians from the community and surrounding areas.

Our traditional worship varies on a number of “special” Sundays during the year:

† Laity Sunday (coordinated by the Deacons)

† Holy Humor Sunday (1st Sunday after Easter)

† Worship in the Gardens (June - followed by picnic lunch)

† Celebration of Women (coordinated by Women’s Fellowship)

† Youth Sunday (coordinated by Music Director)

† Pastor Appreciation Day (October)

† Reformation Sunday (last Sunday in October)

We offer a number of supplemental services, as well:

† Christmas Lessons and Carols (candlelight service, 1st or 2nd Sunday evening in Advent)

† Ash Wednesday Service

† Maundy Thursday Service

† Easter Sunrise (breakfast following)

† Blessing of the Bikes (2nd Saturday in May)

† Blessing of the Animals (September/October)

Nursery ...

A fully equipped nursery is available to occupy restless children during worship.
Staffed by laypersons, as needed, it can also be used by parents who prefer to
remain with their young ones.
